Help Change Layla’s Life
This site is dedicated to raising funds for Layla Walker, a four-year-old little girl with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy with global delay, cortical vision impairment and a seizure disorder. Until recently she was aspirating liquids and although she is eating soft foods by mouth, she has a feeding tube, and still gets nightly feedings to increase her caloric intake. She cannot sit up by herself, walk, talk, or feed herself. Despite these things, she is aware of what is going on around her and what is being said to her. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is a happy, pleasant little girl with a very sweet nature. She has been in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy since she was six months old. Vision therapy got added to her curriculum when she was three years old. She tries her best during all her weekly therapy sessions, and never ceases to amaze us with her inner strength. She is making some progress, but she is still reliant on us to do virtually everything for her. We try to make her life as full as possible.
There is a treatment in Germany that has the potential to drastically improve Layla’s quality of
life. The treatment is called stem cell therapy and would use Layla’s own stem cells. The procedure involves removing bone marrow from Layla’s hip, isolating the stem cells and re-implanting them back into her spinal column. The spinal fluid would then carry the stem cells to Layla’s brain and advance the process of healing.
We have done much research and spoken to many parents who have taken their children to have this procedure done on their kids. I have heard one success story after another. Patient follow-up statistics show that 2 out of 3 patients reported improvements. In my opinion, this therapy can only be described as miraculous.
